Method:
- Wash and clean the fish slices, drain the excess water [ press the slices gently using both hands in between the palm to remove the water]
- In a bowl add turmeric, red chilli / coriander mix, salt , corn flour mix thoroughly while it is dry.
- Sprinkle little water into the above powder mix and to make it pasty [semi thick]. Rub the paste evenly on both sides till it is fully coated.
- In case there is remaining paste mix ensure that this is also equally coated to all the pieces in the bowl.
- Marinate this for 1 to 2 hours [could also be refrigerated].
- Heat a non stick pan or tawa / thick bottomed pan / tawa. [if you are using thick bottomed tawa/pan heat it well before you pour Oil into it] else the fish would get stuck to the pan.
- Pour 1-2 tbsp oil, when the oil becomes hot lower the flame spread the oil evenly all over and place 2 to 3 slices at a time.
- Slowly turn it side to side and fry till it is done to golden brown and crisp. Add oil at the sides if necessary while frying [Do not fry in high flame it will harden on top/ burn black and under cook inside]
- Serve with Onion Slices and Lemon Wedge
- In case it sticks to the pan while frying add a little corn flour to it to avoid sticking.
- Variation: You could reduce chilly / coriander mix and add little pepper and garam masala (Ready mix) while making he paste this would give another flavour to the dish.
- You could also use smaller fish/medium fish variety.
- For Oil fry : Add little more corn flour to the paste to become thick (not semi-thick) consistency.
